Working together for a greener future: H2APEX focuses on climate protection As H2APEX, we are actively committed to climate protection and rely on strong partnerships.

Together, we are pursuing the goal of reducing CO2 emissions and creating sustainable solutions for a better environment. With every row of trees planted, we contribute to strengthening our planet’s natural resources and reducing the ecological footprint – for the environment, society and future generations.

H2APEX is committed to a sustainable future with the "Environmental Heroes" initiative Together with the Rostock Seawolves, H2APEX has launched the "Environmental Heroes" initiative to inspire schoolchildren in Rostock to protect the environment and act sustainably.

The aim of the campaign is to motivate young people to develop and implement their own creative solutions for a more sustainable future. Whether it’s projects on waste avoidance, the design of school gardens or innovative climate protection ideas – with “Environmental Heroes” we want to inspire pupils to actively take responsibility for their environment. The focus is not only on environmental protection, but also on promoting team spirit, creativity and commitment.

Environmental certifications In order to continuously improve and achieve our goal of net carbon neutrality, we have committed to obtaining two ISO certifications in 2024/2025. These certifications will help us to systematically pursue and achieve our environmental and energy targets:

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 – Energy management system

This certification provides us with a structured approach to improving our energy-related performance. By implementing an effective energy management system, we can increase our energy efficiency and optimize energy use at the same time. By analyzing our energy consumption patterns and implementing sustainable practices, we will not only lower our operating costs but also reduce our environmental footprint.

ISO 50001

These two certifications are not only a sign of our commitment to sustainability, but also a strategic investment in the future of our company. By implementing these standards, we create the basis for continuous improvement and actively contribute to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.

100% renewable energy From our in-house solar park

100% renewable energy

As a company that produces green hydrogen, we rely entirely on electricity from renewable energy sources. In 2023, our energy consumption at our headquarters in Laage, Germany, was 0.889 GWh – including production and office supplies. Our in-house H2APEX solar park enabled us to generate 1.511 GWh of electricity in the same year. This meant that we produced more energy than we needed ourselves and were able to pass the surplus on to our customers or feed it into the public grid. In this way, we are actively contributing to a more sustainable and stable energy supply.

Solar power production

In 2023, we were able to produce 1,511 GWh of green electricity with our solar system.

Power consumption

In the same year, we only consumed 0.88897 GWh of electricity. The surplus was fed into the electricity grid.

GHG balance Drawing up a GHG balance sheet in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is an important first step in systematically recording greenhouse gas emissions and laying the foundations for a climate strategy.

By analyzing Scope 1-3 emissions, the main sources of emissions can be identified and targeted measures can be derived. In 2024, H2APEX completed the first GHG balance sheet for the 2023 financial year. We have identified capital goods, purchased goods and services and energy-related emissions (i.e. vehicles) as our hotspots, which correspond to 88% of our emissions. A significant aspect is that our top 6 suppliers account for 83% of our total spend on goods and capital goods. This concentration provides us with a unique opportunity to work closely with our supply chain to focus on reducing emissions and jointly develop a sustainable strategy.
