Lubmin combines what is being sought individually elsewhere: direct connection to offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea, existing pipeline infrastructure of the former Nordstream pipelines and the connection to the new German hydrogen core network – all at one location.
H2APEX is developing the WAL – Hydrogen from Lubmin project together with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. With 100 MW in the first expansion stage and a total potential of up to 600 MW, Lubmin is not a pilot project. It is a foundation.

Energy connection

WAL – Hydrogen from Lubmin
With 100 MW, WAL is the first expansion stage of the Lubmin Hydrogen Hub – designed for a total capacity of up to 600 MW. A project with substance: land secured, electricity secured, partners on board. Together with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, H2APEX is developing green hydrogen production on a scale that enables industrial off-take and grid feed-in right from the start.

The hydrogen core network 9,700 km of hydrogen pipeline through Germany
The Hydrogen Hub Lubmin is located directly at the starting point of the FLOW hydrogen core network – Germany’s most important north-south axis for green hydrogen. The first 400 kilometers of the converted pipeline have been in operation since December 2025. This will enable H2APEX to supply hydrogen produced directly to industrial customers throughout Germany – from Saxony-Anhalt via Berlin and Leipzig to Baden-Württemberg.
