H2ERO in Rostock-Laage

The 100 MW “H2Hero” project aims to produce green hydrogen using renewable energies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It will be connected directly to the central hydrogen core network to ensure efficient distribution of the hydrogen. At the same time, the renewable energy generated in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be used in Rostock-Laage to avoid the transportation of electricity nationwide and to strengthen the local energy supply. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) as part of the national hydrogen strategy.

CO2 reduction:

The project will save 100,000 tonsof CO2 emissions annually.

Electrolysis capacity:

The electrolysis capacity is 100 megawatts. This shows the amount of electrical energy that the system can use to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.

Pipeline feed:

10,000 tons per year

production capacity:

The plant has a production capacity of approx. 1800 kg/h, 10,000 t/p.a.. This means that it can produce 1800 kg of hydrogen per hour, which equates to a capacity of approx. 10,000 tons per year, depending on the energy input, i.e. the availability of renewable energies.

Usable oxygen:

In addition to hydrogen, oxygen is also produced, which can be used in other industrial processes. The production rate is a maximum of 14,400 kg of oxygen per hour. (8kg O2 / kg H2)

Usable waste heat:

Approx. 145 GWh per year
